Town of Jones Appoints Sonny Nohmer as Chief of Police
JONES, OKLAHOMA — During its regular meeting on August 4, 2026, the Jones Board of Trustees voted to appoint Sonny Nohmer as Chief of Police for the Town of Jones.
Chief Nohmer is a lifelong resident of eastern Oklahoma County and a 1992 graduate of Harrah High School. He began his law enforcement career in 2002 and has since served communities throughout Oklahoma County, including Choctaw, Spencer, and Jones.
Chief Nohmer holds a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, is FBI-LEEDA certified, and holds an Advanced Certification from the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET). His education, advanced training, and more than two decades of law enforcement experience provide a strong foundation for his leadership of the Jones Police Department.
Beyond his service in law enforcement, Chief Nohmer is a devoted father and grandfather. His five daughters—Chelsey, Kaylee, Destiny, McCole, and Addison—are the light of his life. He is also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: five girls and four boys. When he is not serving the community, he can often be found caring for his animals or fixing something for one of his children.
The Town of Jones is honored to welcome Sonny Nohmer into this leadership role and looks forward to the experience, dedication, and community-focused direction he will bring to the Jones Police Department.
