Jones, Oklahoma — Town of Jones Receives Positive DEQ Inspection Report for Ballfields
The Town of Jones is pleased to share the results of the recent inspection conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for the Jones Ballfields, located at the northwest corner of Britton Road and Henney Road.
According to the April 7, 2026, report, the ballfields are well maintained and in compliance with the Operations and Maintenance Plan established under the 2017 Memorandum of Agreement between DEQ and the Town.
The inspection confirmed several key positive findings:
- No environmental concerns identified, including the absence of any battery casings on the property
- Overall field conditions rated as good, with proper maintenance observed across all areas
- Previously identified issues addressed, including removal and proper disposal of a gopher mound on the South Field
- T-ball fields in excellent condition, with no action items required
Minor observations noted in the report include seasonal turf thinning due to early spring conditions and drought, as well as a few high-traffic areas near the concession stand and ticket booth that may benefit from additional maintenance such as gravel or turf improvements.
The Town & Jones Kiwanis will continue to monitor these areas as part of its routine maintenance efforts and monthly inspections.
The DEQ will conduct a follow-up inspection after the conclusion of the 2026 baseball season.
